This page has got a lot of useful information for anyone interested in joining the society or just general information for new members. So whoever you are enjoy!

Information for those who are interested in joining the society

Briefly a bit about us, there is a small group of us that form the exec with many regular members turning up. The exec run the weekly events and plans the regular annual activities as well. They can also help you with questions you might have about the society or scouts and guides in general.

We are one of the friendliest societies in the union and also one of the most active. Our many activities throughout the year are varied and enjoyable, there is no point in being dull! Its up to you how much time you commit to us but we have an activity on every week and a lunchtime meet on Wednesdays. The weekly activities are varied so there is bound to be something you enjoy, but if not we normally land up in a pub afterwards!

Most members are still members of the Scouting/Guiding Associations so we have many links to the local groups. So if you wish to continue with your Scouting or Guiding awards we can arrange for you to do this.

Please do not hesitate to ask us if you have any queries, you can E-mail us on Scout-GuideS@cf.ac.uk or fill in our contact form here.

Information for new society members

So you’re in your first year and just joined SSAGS! Lucky you, might I say a good choice! But now what do you do? First thing is to try and make it to as many events as possible but if you can only make it to one then I know I would love to see you even that once!

We make good use of IT, the website being one and we use E-mail to keep the members informed as to whats going on. We also use the message board facility to allow members to keep up to date with news and gossip! So the second thing to do is to sign up to that. The website is updated regularly with activity reports and any photos.

On Wednesday lunchtimes during the semester, we meet up in Seren Las (1rd Floor of the Students union) for some lunch and chat. There's normally someone there from 12pm - 3pm, so pop in and see whos about! O'Brians' will give you a cheaper meal than normal and you have the chance to chat about Scout or Guide awards, pay for upcoming events, or just generaly catch up on the latest news.

If you do have problems, not only in your first year but anytime while you are with the society, with anything wrong or bothering you then talk to any of the exec members who will be more than happy to help.
