This is our beloved mascot "Fred", sometimes known as "Fred The Fish". When Cardiff SSAGS was forming itself as the top-flight society that it is today, they had problems picking a mascot. Fred was created a long time ago by Jenny, Karen and Sam whilst sitting in Karen's bedroom in Senghennydd Court.

Originally they wanted a sheep, dragon or leek (something Welsh), but these were already mascots for other SSAGO Clubs!!!

Whilst trying to think of a society mascot they spotted a birthday card (shown below) stuck on the pin board, with a multi coloured fish on it. Looking through the list of other SSAGO Clubs' Mascots' they couldn't find a fish so we now have a fish, but what colour? Since we had already chosen orange as our society colour, the fish would have to be orange. Fred was born!!!
